In the third quarter of 2025, the performance of top news and magazine apps on the Android platform in Nigeria showed varied trends. Here is an overview based on data from Sensor Tower.

X by X Corp. saw a notable increase in weekly revenue, peaking at around $27.6K by late September. Weekly downloads also showed a positive trend, reaching approximately 57.9K in early September. Active users remained robust, with numbers fluctuating between 6.9M and 7.2M throughout the quarter.

Breaking News - Live Headlines, despite not generating revenue, maintained a steady download rate, which peaked at about 23.7K in late September. Active user numbers showed a rise towards the end of the quarter, increasing from around 334K to 413K.

Opera News: breaking & local experienced a decline in downloads, dropping from about 12.3K to 2.6K by late September. Despite this, active user numbers remained stable, hovering around 600K throughout the quarter.

Quora: the knowledge platform did not generate revenue but saw a gradual increase in downloads, reaching over 10.5K in September. Active users fluctuated slightly, with numbers ranging between 165K and 197K.
